Terracotta pot with newly sprouted herbs

Hey there, it’s Kara from Lange Girl Farms! Herbs are my homestead heroes—after 15 years of country life, they heal my horses, flavor my meals, and keep my chickens perky, all naturally. This DIY herb garden’s a quick win I’ve perfected, and you can do it in an hour. It’s sustainable, holistic, and straight from my land to yours—let’s grow some goodness!

Supplies You’ll Need

•       35+ pots (I reuse old buckets—or love terracotta pots You can find it here thru my affiliate link (https://amzn.to/4l8Gmzm)work too).

• Michigan Peat 40 Pound Bag Garden Magic Organic Planting Potting Top Soil Blend Mix, You can find it here thru my affiliate link  (https://amzn.to/44IEqYo)—no junk for my crew.

• 35 Medicinal & Tea Herb Seeds Variety Pack for Indoor & Outdoors, You can find it here thru my affiliate link  (https://amzn.to/4nsHUpb)—basil, chamomile, mint (healing and tasty).

• A sunny spot—my porch is gold.

Step 1: Prep Your Pots – Fill halfway with soil—loose, not packed. I’ve used horse trough scraps with holes punched—works fine if you don’t drown ‘em.

Step 2: Plant With Care – Poke a 1-inch hole, drop 2-3 seeds, cover lightly. I label with sticks—mixed up mint and chamomile once! Water gently with a watering can, I’m a sucker for a galvanized can You can find it here thru my affiliate link  (https://amzn.to/3G4q37v)—damp, not soaked.

Step 3: Set and Nurture – Six hours of sun—my herbs feed off it. Water every few days; sprouts pop in 7-14 days, full plants in 6-8 weeks. I snip chamomile for horse tea—holistic heaven.

This DIY’s been my homestead hack for years—quick, natural, and useful. Grow it for your table or critters—you’ll feel the farm girl glow. Pin this to start, and dig into more at Lange Girl Farms!
