Happy New Year from Lange Girl Farms! As we cozy up in Southeast Michigan this January, we’re bringing some bold flavor to winter meals with our updated Cowboy Butter 2.0—rich, herby compound butter made with dried herbs from our homestead garden. This isn’t your basic garlic butter; it’s a versatile spread that elevates steak, roasted veggies, bread, or even scrambled eggs from our chickens and ducks. We’ve refined the recipe with new farm herb blends, making it even more flavorful and easy to customize. Today, I’ll share the base recipe, variations using our dried herbs, storage tips, and why it’s a homestead staple. For any garlic hands afterward, our Headache Salve is the perfect natural relief!
What Is Cowboy Butter?
Cowboy butter is a flavored compound butter originating from steakhouse traditions—loaded with garlic, herbs, and a kick of spice. Our version is homestead-twisted: using dried herbs we grew and harvested, plus a touch of honey from local bees for balance. It’s zero-waste (use herb stems in stock!) and adds gourmet flair to simple farm meals.
